Occupational Therapy at Oaklawn After a serious illness or injury or a lengthy hospital stay, many patients need help regaining the skills of daily living. These skills include cooking, dining, bathing, using the toilet, dressing and grooming. Our occupational therapists will work with them according to a personalized treatment plan to help them readapt to their home and community. At Oaklawn, we have created a rehab area with a fully functional kitchen, a washer and dryer and a bathroom where patients can relearn basic skills. The bathroom is equipped with special rails and other equipment so that we can show them how to upgrade their bathroom at home for their greatest safety and convenience. As part of our occupational therapy program, we will also train them where and how to use adaptive equipment at home to maximize their independence. |
