Activities

Our full time activities director plans a wide variety of stimulating social and recreational activities to provide patients with frequent opportunities for fun and companionship. These activities include music, games, exercise classes, movies, guest speakers, entertainment and seasonal celebrations. And our patients always have the choice of whether or not they wish to participate.

Oaklawn has been designed to accommodate and encourage activities with:

• A media room where patients and their families may use computers, fax machines, etc. Patients are encouraged to learn more about e-mail and the Internet, if they wish.
  
• Movie theatre with a wet bar that is designed to accommodate wheelchairs
  
• A main library with beautiful hardwoods and soft lighting, plus several smaller libraries throughout the four wings

Local groups and organizations are welcome to hold their meetings in our facility. We find that it builds strong, positive ties with our neighbors, and makes patients feel they are a part of a vital community.
